Ceremonial county
Somerset
County town, a World Heritage city, a manufacturing town, and a Bristol Channel resort. Grouped here so a Somerset search still finds Bath and Weston.
Somerset, for this directory, means the ceremonial county. That includes the unitary authorities of Bath and North East Somerset and North Somerset. Taunton is the county town. Bath is a small city with visitors and professional services. Yeovil has a manufacturing base, including aerospace supply. Weston-super-Mare is the main coastal town on this side of the Bristol Channel.
Bath is not administered by Somerset County Council, and neither is North Somerset. They are listed under Somerset because that is where people look, and because splitting them into extra hubs would hide them. The town pages say so again.
The Levels, the Mendips and a long list of small towns are not separate pages in this launch. Yeovil is listed as a town even where it has no sample listings yet, so the page can explain the place before businesses claim it.
- Do not treat Bath and Taunton as the same market. They are an hour apart and buy different things.
- Weston looks to Bristol as well as to the rest of Somerset. Say which you mean.
- A company registered in Yeovil may trade on an industrial estate, not in the town centre.
