Ceremonial county
Cornwall
A peninsula with one main road and towns that are not substitutes for each other.
Cornwall is a ceremonial county and a long peninsula. Journey times are the fact that matters for a directory. A business in Truro does not automatically cover Penzance, and a business in Newquay may have no interest in a job down at the Lizard.
Truro is the administrative and shopping centre. Falmouth is a working port and a university town. Penzance is the service town for the far west, with the railway terminus. Newquay leans on visitors, and its quieter months are a different economy from July. This launch keeps those four towns separate so a search does not pretend they are one place.
Villages, harbours and the Isles of Scilly are not separate pages. If you need someone in a village, start with the nearest of these towns and ask what area they actually cover.
- Ask how far a tradesperson will travel. The answer changes the price.
- Summer books out earlier in Newquay than it does in Truro.
- A registered office in Cornwall is often not the workshop. Claimed listings should say which is which.
