Plymouth
The larger Devon city, rebuilt after the war, with a dockyard economy beside a university and a waterfront.
Recording the page view…
Plymouth is a city in its own right, not a suburb of Exeter. The naval dockyard and marine work still sit under a lot of the local economy. The post-war centre, Stonehouse, Mutley and the Hoe are different places to meet a customer. A waterfront address can mean a restaurant, a marine supplier, or a registered office.
The city also serves the Rame peninsula and the south-west edge of Dartmoor. Coverage is a question to ask, particularly if the job is outside the city boundary. The Tamar is a border with Cornwall. A Plymouth listing is not a Saltash listing.
Practical notes
- Ask whether a marine or dockyard induction is part of the job. It changes who can attend.
- The centre and the northern estates are separate journeys at busy times.
- Exeter is not a fallback. It is another city.
