Exeter
Devon's county town: a compact centre, a university, and suburbs that are a different job from the High Street.
Recording the page view…
Exeter is the administrative centre of Devon and a city small enough to walk across, with suburbs and trading estates that are not the same call-out as the cathedral quarter. The quayside, Southernhay and the High Street draw different kinds of business. A listing should say which of those it is.
The city serves a wide rural area to the east and north, but a business that advertises Exeter may still refuse a job beyond the ring road. Ask. Students and the hospital change weekday trade in the centre. They do not change the need for a written quote.
Practical notes
- Older city-centre buildings and post-war suburbs are different plumbing and wiring jobs.
- Parking for a tradesperson's van is a real constraint inside the old walls.
- Southernhay is professional services. The quayside is not the same list.
